CORPORATELand & General Berhad
was incorporated in Malaysia on 21 May 1964 under the name of Nanyang Holdings Sdn. Bhd.
and changed its name to General Lumber (Holding) Berhad and converted to a public limited
company on 7 October 1968.
The shares were listed on the then Stock Exchange of Kuala Lumpur and Singapore on 14
November 1968.
In compliance with the Malaysia Governments policy and the Listing Requirements
of the KLSE, the shares were de-listed from the Official List of the Stock Exchange of
Singapore Limited with effect from 1 January 1990.
On 31 December 1991, we adopted our present name Land & General Berhad.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES
L&G is an investment holding company while its subsidiaries are engaged in property
development, property management and education services.
Summary of Businesses
L&G is a holding company with subsidiaries and affiliates engaged primarily in the
property business.
The businesses of the Group are organised into divisions of Property and Investments.
Companies in the Property Division are engaged in the development and management of, and
investment in, properties in Malaysia and Australia, whilst companies organised under the
Investments Division are engaged in exploration of petroleum and education services.
Property Division
Through the Property Division, the Group is a developer of three integrated
self-sufficient township, it has commercial rental properties in Kuala Lumpur and
Melbourne and other property interests.
L&Gs township development covers the overall aspect of real property
development. From the acquisition of land, land clearing, earthworks, site planning, and
Common Infrastructure development through design and construction of houses to marketing,
sales and delivery.
Other land development interests include a condominium
development in Melbourne and housing lot development at Hidden
Valley near
Melbourne, Australia.
The Group is involved in the management and leasing of developed properties. Such
properties are either owned or managed by the Group, or held under long-term lease.
Properties under the Groups management include properties developed by the
Group.
Investments Division
The Companys strategy for its investment portfolio is to invest in businesses
which it believes has opportunities for growth and, at the appropriate stage, realise its
investments.
In education, L&G holds a 90% interest in Lang Education (which operates a private
school).
